Paula Hitchcock

May 10, 1955 – October 8, 2025

Denton, TX

Paula Hitchcock was born on May 10, 1955, to William Hitchcock and Frances Caylor. Paula Hitchcock was the only child, and Married Joanne Costa, who passed away on August 6, 2024. They were married for 27 years, prior to their divorce. Paula is survived by her 3 children, Kaylee Hitchcock, Cheryce Hellums and her husband Freddie Hellums, Danielle Phipps and her husband Larry Phipps. Paula also had 2 grandchildren, Zacheas Griffin and Hope Hellums.

Paula served 20 years in the United States Air Force, as Biomedical Technician. She is an Operation Desert Shield/Storm veteran. She retired in 1993 while stationed in South Dakata. She graduated from Texas Woman's University with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She had several hobbies and interests, such as woodworking, model cars and planes, and working on vehicles. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Paula was fighter, someone who didn't take no for answer, and lived her life and did things her own way. She had to fight her whole life to get where she was, and she fought all the way to end. Her final battle was hard battle, with lots of ups and downs, but she never stopped fighting. She wasn't ready to leave this world, and her children and grandchildren weren't ready for her leave. She will be greatly missed, but she her stories, life lessons, and fighting nature will live on in her children and grandchildren. Unfortunately, the world had other plans for Paula. The world had decided that it was time for Paula to get some much-needed rest, and as a result she lost her final fight to cancer. Paula will be missed, but now she gets to rest. May she rest in peace.

A service will be held for Paula Hitchcock on Friday November 14, 2025, at 2 PM at Mulkey-Bowles Montgomery Funeral Home at 705 N. Locust St. Denton, TX 76201. Her service will be officiated by her daughter Cheryce Hellums, her husband, Freddie Hellums, and Kaylee Hitchcock.
