CARBONDALE - Jerry Carl McGHee, age 64, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO with his loving wife by his side.
Jerry was born on September 29, 1961 in Mississippi. Jerry married Sherrie Bishop-McCloud on August 29, 2017 in Carbondale.
Jerry was a man known for his immense generosity and kindness; he truly had a big heart. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. A respected figure in the community, Jerry worked as a self-employed handyman, renowned for his ability to fix anything that needed repair. His skills and craftsmanship were matched only by his warm spirit and genuine care for those around him.
Jerry found joy in fishing, barbecuing, and spending cherished time with his grandchildren. His laughter and love will forever echo in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Sherrie McGHee; sons, Donte Garrett, Adonis McCloud and Octavius McCloud; granddaughter, Natesia Garrett and numerous "add on" grandchildren; sisters, Eva McGHee, Deborah Hall, Lisa Powell; brother, Kevin Westmore; and many other family members.
A Celebration of Life Service for Jerry will be scheduled at a later date.
Memorials may be made in Jerry's name to the American Heart Association.
