Jerry C. Minzel MD

Jerry Minzel passed away peacefully on June 8, 2023 at the age of 82 in Lewistown, Montana. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Minzel; his children, Jeffrey Minzel and Jennifer Michaels, and their families.
Jerry was born February 15, 1941 in Seattle, Washington and grew up in the Pacific Northwest. He was adventurous by nature and loved the outdoors and being in the surrounding mountains and forests. He spent some of his happiest times with family and friends while skiing, hiking, and climbing mountains.
He attended the University of Washington and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and maintained lifelong relationships with the friends he made there. He graduated from the University of Washington Medical School in 1967 and specialized in urology, completing his residency in 1972. He found great fulfillment practicing medicine in Seattle and serving and connecting with his patients.
He and his wife, Vicki, relocated to Lewistown, Montana after Jerry's retirement, where he recaptured some of the fond childhood memories he had of summers spent on his Aunt and Uncle's farm in Idaho. He enjoyed being active in the community, volunteering through Kiwanis, and enjoying his weekly coffee clutch. He spent summers and winters participating in "Ski for Light", guiding vision impaired individuals on hikes, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing trips.
Always inquisitive and eager for new adventures, he enjoyed sailing, trips to different parts of the world, hut-to-hut hiking and skiing in the Alps, and Montana pheasant hunting trips.
Those who knew him will remember the twinkle in his eye, his zest for life, and his irreverent sense of humor. He loved all things Bavarian, classical music, his dogs, red wine and chocolate, Alaska Amber beer, the color red, his vast collection of backpacks and hiking stoves, working with his hands, and being with family and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Lewistown, Montana July 7 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any remembrances be made to the suggested charities: CMMC Cancer Center project, Central Montana Foundation, or Zion Lutheran Church.
