Jerry L. Myers, 78, of Smithville, Missouri passed away on September 27, 2023.
Jerry was born on December 9, 1944 in Paris, Arkansas. He proudly enlisted in the United States Marines where he served as Sergeant during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge after 4 years of service, Jerry began his long 38-year career as a railroad engineer at Union Pacific (formerly CNW). In his spare time, Jerry often found peace in the great outdoors, planting trees or mowing. As a man who never wanted to be bored, he always had a big project going on and made sure his neighbors were well taken care of. Most important in his life was his family - especially his grandchildren.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Daniel Myers; mother, Vasthia Nevia Creagan; wife, Vickie Myers; daughter, Sharma Myers; and sister, Sharon Ladinsky.
He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his children, Courtney Myers and Jared (Melissa) Myers; grandchildren, Casen and Jade; siblings, Ronnie (Karen) Myers and Norma (Larry) Holland; and many extended family and friends, including long time friend, Rusty.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Terrace Park Funeral Home on Saturday, September 30th, with visitation beginning at 10:30am, funeral service at 11am, followed by burial with military honors. Military honors will be live streamed and recorded at https://event.forgetmenotceremonies.com/ceremony?c=c5b2b961-aae0-46c0-902c-e1f8cc562580 .
