Jerry P. Nicks, beloved husband, lovingly called “Nick” by his wife of 38 years, Brenda Nocito Nicks, passed away peacefully in Covington, Louisiana on November 8, 2025 after an extended illness.
Born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1936 to Ollie Prim and George T. Nicks, Jerry lived a full and accomplished life marked by dedication, integrity, and love for family. After graduating from North Side High School in Fort Worth, TX, Jerry attended Texas Tech University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He began his professional career with Ernst & Ernst and achieved his Certified Public Accountant designation. Over the years, his career reflected both intelligence and versatility, serving as Finance Director for the City of Garland, working in Systems and Sales for IBM, and later establishing and operating the Robert Half Personnel Agency in Houston, Texas. His leadership continued at Homco International as Consultant and Vice President of Oilfield Services, and as Corporate Controller for Seatrax, Inc., VMI Marine, and Benchmark Instrumentation in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
A proud Veteran, Jerry served his country in the U. S. Army as a Nuclear Weapons Training Specialist, exemplifying his lifelong commitment to excellence and service.
Jerry will always be lovingly remembered by his wife Brenda; his son David Nicks (Lisa) of Lake Jackson, Texas; his grandson James Nicks (Anna) of East Bernard, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert Nicks (Ruth) and George Nicks (Jeneva); his sisters Dorothy Wheeless (Jim) and Mary McCammon (Dan); and his son Jerry Paul Nicks (Pam).
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA. Visitation will be held from 10AM to 12PM; a private graveside service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to North Cross Methodist Church, 311 Highway 21, Madisonville, LA 70447.
Jerry will be remembered for his sharp mind, quick sense of humor, and the quiet strength and wisdom he brought to every chapter of his life. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
