Jerry Nixon Obituary
Jerry Herman Nixon, 74, of 435 Evans-Bass Road, died Saturday, December 21, 2024, in his home.
Jerry was born in Chowan County on August 11, 1950, and was the son of the late Herman Wilbur and Alma Goodwin Nixon.
Raised in the fellowship of Rocky Hock Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of its community, he had worked in residential construction with the Chowan County Economic Improvement Council winterizing homes for the elderly and shut ins. Many in the area will remember Jerry for his love of music and his talent as a musician.
Surviving is his sister, Joyce Nixon Wolford of Summerville, SC; two nephews, Mark White, also of Summerville, and Trevor White (wife, Meredith) of Lake Alfred, FL; three great-nieces, Brittany, Brooke, and Alexis; and a great-nephew, Alex; as well as many cousins and extended members of both the Nixon and Goodwin families.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 10, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home and Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by the Rev. Matt Dupuy. The burial will be private in the Nixon Family Cemetery.
