Jerry Risor Obituary

Jerry Risor

Keithville, LA - United States Air Force Master Sergeant Retired, Jerry L. Risor, 75, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020 in Shreveport. He was born March 1, 1945 in Many, LA; the son of Frank and Elsie Risor. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents.

MSGT Retired Risor spent over 20 years on active duty serving his country while in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, Jerry worked in management with Eckerd Drug and then with Lowes, which he greatly enjoyed. Out of all Jerry's achievements, he was most proud of his family. He was the true definition of a family man. He loved fishing and working on cars with his son and sport shooting and bible study with his daughter. Jerry was the proudest father and a loving husband. He also adored both of his dogs, Rusty and Casper.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 49 years Hattie Mae Clark Risor; son, Tyrel C. Risor and wife Heather; daughter, Morgan T Reeves and husband Jeremy; sister, Ona Mae Courville and numerous extended family members.

Jerry's family wishes that memorial donations be made to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, 1235 South Clark Street, Ste. 910, Arlington, VA 22202.

There will be an invitation-only family visitation not to exceed 10 people due to the restrictions of the current COVID-19 pandemic. When the situation allows, a celebration of Jerry's life will be held for his family members and many friends. Jerry will be laid to rest at the Northwest LA Veterans Cemetery in Keithville. Services are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA.

The Final Salute

Brothers and Sisters in Arms, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged Hand Salutes as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This Hand Salute is the last that we shall render to Jerry L. Risor our Brother-in-Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Jerry. And to Jerry it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during the Vietnam War while serving in the U.S. Air Force. Jerry, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 881 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 121 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Jerry's family and loved ones.
