Jerry Dale Rogers, 75, of Robstown, Texas, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on October 22, 2023. Jerry was born and raised in Iraan, TX on October 8, 1948 to Bessie and Melton Rogers.
Jerry graduated from Iraan High School in 1967 and was drafted into the United States Army on February 2, 1969. His basic training was done at Fort Bliss in El Paso and was then stationed overseas in South Korea at Camp Casey on the DMZ. Jerry was honorably discharged from the Army on September 23, 1970, as an E5 Sergeant. He returned to Iraan and spent the next two years roughnecking on drilling rigs.
He married Eileen Gallagher on August 19, 1973 in San Marcos, TX. Jerry and Eileen enjoyed 50 years of marriage. They had one son, Robert Rogers. Jerry continued to work in the oilfield and oil related industry until he retired in 2015. During retirement, Jerry and Eileen loved traveling and antiquing. He continued to work on the farm helping Eileen and Mike. He loved to spend his time hunting and looked most forward to taking his grandson, Flynn, to the deer lease. Jerry also loved time at the beach for Labor Day weekends and being around the entire family. If he was at home, he would be working outside in the yard or the barn. He was a great mechanic, electrician, and all-around handyman.
He is preceded in death by father, Melton; mother, Bessie; brother, Jimmie; and brother-in-law Carl.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen Rogers of Robstown, Texas; son, Robert (Melanie) Rogers and grandson Flynn of Bryan, Texas; brother Robert (Barbara) of Vernal, Utah; brother Jackie of Sugarland, Texas; sister Barbara of Liberty, Texas; brother in law Michael (Margaret) Gallagher of Robstown, Texas; brother in law Pat (Susan) Gallagher of Bushy Creek, Texas; niece Kimberly (Brian) Boone of Robstown, Texas; niece Kristy Hovda of Robstown, Texas; and many great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Sawyer George Funeral Home, 12497 Leopard St, Corpus Christi, TX 78410. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, a Memorial service will begin at 11:00am.
