Jerry Emil Ruzicka

1942 - 2022

Jerry Emil Ruzicka, age 79, of Bolivar passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, in his home town of Bolivar. He was born on his family farm on May 30, 1942, to Joseph James Ruzicka and Alice Ann Francka Ruzicka.
Jerry graduated from Bolivar High in the class of 1960, where he enjoyed playing football and was an active member of Future Farmers of America. After high school, Jerry took over the family farm and ran it until his passing. He found great joy in caring for his farm, as well as his neighbors. One could always call upon Jerry for a favor or help.
Jerry served in the United States Army and Reserves and was discharged in 1968. He served as a volunteer fireman with the Morrisville Fire Department and was an active board member of the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. He was also an usher at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he was a devoted member for many years.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Catherine, and a dear friend, Tim Schallert of Austin, Texas.
He is survived by his sister, Alice Bunker of Reno, Nevada; brother, Joe Ruzicka, of the family farm; cousin, Catherine Self; as well as nephews, Mark Bunker and Roger Bunker of Fredericksburg, Texas; and niece, Anna Klovstad and husband, Sven, of Truckee, California; and dear friend, Michael Campbell of Vacaville, California; as well as a host of neighbors, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 9, with Rosary 30 minutes prior at Pitts Chapel, Bolivar. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bolivar. Burial will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Bolivar.
