Jerry M. Sikes

Mr. Jerry M. Sikes, age 87, of Cochran, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville. Funeral services will be held Friday August 5, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. in Trail Branch Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will be private in the church cemetery. Elder Sam Bryant will officiate the services. The family will meet friends in the church after service Friday.
Mr. Jerry was born November 20, 1934, in Bleckley County to the late Mr. John W. "Jack" and Rosa Mullis Sikes and was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Sikes, Jackie Eli Sikes, and his loyal companion, Timber. He graduated from Cochran High School class of 1952. He was a third generation farmer and operated the family farm. Jerry was a member of the Georgia Cattlemen's Association. He believed in hard work and the value of friends and family. He worked each day to make a better life for the ones he loved. He was loyal, trustworthy and most of all honest. If growing and baling square bales of hay was an art, Jerry would have been an artist. He loved listening to country music and a good meal.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Kathy Sikes Bates and Wendi Sikes both of Cochran; son, James Sikes; grandson, Christopher Bates and his wife Hannah Holliday Bates of Jeffersonville; 2 great-grandchildren; sister in law, Rose Sikes; and a host of nieces and nephews.
