James Thomas “Tom” Digby, 94, of Dawson, GA, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday, January 4, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Chickasawhatchee Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Jerry Rhodes will officiate. Masonic Burial Rites will follow along with The Nurses Honor Guard will perform a ceremonial tribute.
Mr. Digby was born on June 25, 1931 at home in Pineview, GA to the late James and Evie Digby. He graduated from Wilcox County High School in 1949 and continued his education to becomes a Licensed Practical Nurse. Mr. Digby moved to Cochran, GA where he served as the Administrator of Cochran Manor before moving to Dawson, GA in 1969. He was part owner of The Dawson Manor building and served as the Administrator for nine years. He was also employed with HCA Palmyra Medical Center as a LPN before retiring in 1992. Mr. Digby was a member of Chickasawhatchee Baptist Church and was also 73-year Master Mason and member of and Past Master of P.T. Schley Lodge # 229, F&AM. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Mathew Lee Poupard.
Survivors include two daughters, Louann Poupard (Tommy) of Dawson, GA and Donna D. Bernstein (John) of Brooksville, GA, his grandchildren, Johnathan Bernstein (Samantha) and Lindsey Bentley (Kenny) all of Shellman, GA, Jamie McCullough (James) of Weston, GA, Taylor Roland (Kristen) of Dawson, GA, Tony Poupard and Michael Poupard (Shelby) all of Dawson, GA and two great-grandchildren.
