Jerry W. Smith of Streator passed away Friday, January 9, 2026, at the age of 77. He was born December 15, 1948, to Frank Smith Sr. and Rosemary Smith in Morris, IL.
Jerry married Marthalyn "Marty" D. Hinnich, in Morris on April 8, 1967. They celebrated 55 years of marriage before Marthalyn's passing on July 10, 2022.
Jerry worked for Caterpillar in Aurora for 30 years as a welder before retiring. He also worked for Ace Hardware in Streator for about 12 years. He was a handyman and could repair most electrical, heating, and plumbing issues.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Kerrie Smith and his son, Dale (Theresa) Smith. He was a grandfather to Sean (Brittany), Elizabeth, and Luke (Desi). He was a great grandfather to Bryson, Aubrey, and Gina Smith.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and wife.
There will be a private graveside service. Aqua cremation rites will be accorded.
