Jerry Springer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown-Winters Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Afton on Dec. 14, 2025.
Jerry Wayne Springer, 58, left this world peacefully in the arms of Jesus on Friday, December 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and close friends at Oklahoma Heart Institute in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jerry was born on January 28, 1967, in Claremore, Oklahoma. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at the age of 12 years old and followed through with baptism while attending Carter Baptist Church.

He grew up in Afton, Oklahoma, where he developed a passion for sports, particularly football. After graduating from Afton high school, he received a scholarship to play football at NEO as well as NSU where he obtained his bachelor's degree. Jerry went on to pursue his master's degree at Pittsburg State and established his career in education where he dedicated himself as a highly valued coach and teacher for several years.

Jerry was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and partner. He showed immense love and support for his family and prioritized being a part of each of his nieces' and nephews' milestones. Jerry was the heart of each family gathering and adored spending time with his friends and loved ones. Jerry was a gifted storyteller, lifting everyone's spirits with his endless trove of tales. A selfless and giving soul, he knew no stranger, helping anyone without question and never asking anything in return. Jerry was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Jerry is survived by his loving mother, Margie Hudson; his devoted partner, Melia Griswold: his brothers Steve Springer (Shannon), and Tony Springer; his sisters, Angie Crow (Marc) and Lois Williams (Terry); his stepbrothers John Hudson (Judy) and Bob Hudson. He was also the favorite uncle to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by Don Hudson (Dad), David Lee Springer (Brother) and Tom Hudson (Stepbrother). As we navigate through this difficult time, we are at peace that he is with so many loved ones who have gone before him.

Visitation for Mr. Springer has been scheduled on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at First Christian Church in Afton. Funeral services will start at 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the Afton School Gym, with Reverend Brian Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Afton.

Mr. Springer taught me how to drive in drivers ed. Those were some of the best days that I've really been missing lately, just driving around with this funny, but quiet guy with a few classmates for the hour. Definitely didn't want to fall asleep in his class, might get a big BANG on your desk or by your ear He was a favorite without a doubt. He'll definitely be missed so much
