Jerry Franklin Vowell, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away on December 11, 2025, in Glasgow, Kentucky, at the age of 70. Born on December 30, 1954, in Tucson, Arizona, Jerry lived a life full of passion and dedication, marked by his deep love for family and a profound commitment to his career as a truck driver.
Throughout his professional life, Jerry took great pride in his work as a retired truck driver, forging connections and experiences that would remain with him forever. In his younger years, he also graced the rodeo circuits, riding in the RCA Rodeo, an endeavor that showcased his adventurous spirit and love for the thrill of the moment.
Jerry was devoted to his wife, Shirley Vowell, with whom he shared a rich life filled with memories and love. He is mourned by his sister, Melissa Vowell, and another sister, Karen Mattox, who remember him not only for his steadfast nature but also for the joy he brought into their lives. Jerry also cherished the relationships he held with his uncles, David Walker (Kay) and Harold Lee Walker, as well as with his brothers-in-law, Donnie Johnson and Dale Edinger. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Katherine Hagan, who he cherished deeply.
His family extended to cousins including Mike Walker, Nancy Hampton, and Mary Hampton, along with several nieces and nephews who will carry his legacy forward. Lonnie and Mary Jo Freemans friendship was a staple in his life. They shared many years of laughter and stories and enjoyed their card games.
Jerry Franklin Vowell leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories woven from the fabric of love, adventure, and family ties. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
The family has chosen cremation entrusted to the care of A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
