Jerry Weeks Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert on Feb. 24, 2026.
Jerry Gary Weeks, Sr., the beloved son of John Weeks and Madora (Douglas) Weeks, was born on November 28, 1943, in Trenton, New Jersey. He spent his formative years growing up in New Jersey, where he attended Cranbury public school and later trade school at Middlesex County Vocational & Technical High School, graduating in 1961.

Jerry was drafted into the United States Army, beginning a distinguished career of service to his country that spanned until his retirement in 1989. Throughout his military journey, Jerry was stationed in various locations including Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, and several posts across the United States. He rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class and his exemplary service was recognized with numerous awards and commendations. These honors include: the National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry (Unit), Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Overseas Service Ribbon-3, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon-3, Army Good Conduct Medal-7, Army Commendation Medal, and Sharpshooter Qualification Badge M-16 Rifle.

While stationed in Korea, Jerry met Hyon Cha Song. They were married on October 16, 1969, in Seoul, Korea. Together, they were blessed with three daughters and one son, building a loving family.

Upon retiring from the Army, Jerry and his family settled at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. There, he became the owner and operator of a charter bus company, providing transportation for military trainees between St. Louis and the base.

After stepping away from the bus company, Jerry spent his time pursuing hobbies he cherished. He enjoyed tending to his acreage on Y Hwy in St. Robert, Missouri, where he raised chickens, quail, and other animals. Jerry also found joy in hunting, fishing, and, above all, prioritizing the well-being of his family.

Jerry continued to live in St. Robert until his health began to decline, at which point he relocated to Georgia to be closer to his daughters. He spent his last three years there, surrounded by family and love.

On Friday, February 20, 2026, Jerry passed away peacefully at his home in Georgia, at the age of 82. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hyon Cha Weeks, one sister, and three brothers. He is survived by his four children: Sondra Weeks of Powder Springs, GA; Andrea Weeks of Smyrna, GA; Monica Gavaller of Smyrna, GA; and Jerry Gary Weeks, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will continue to cherish his memory.

Though Jerry is no longer with us, his unwavering dedication to both his country and his family will remain an inspiration in the hearts of all who knew him.
