Jess Cannoy Obituary
June 14, 1957 - April 16, 2025
Jess Albert Cannoy, age 67, of Kansas, passed away peacefully at his mother's house in rural Mattoon on April 16, 2025.
Memorial services honoring his life will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Josh McLain and Bret Hammond officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date.
Jess was born on June 14, 1957 in Tacoma, Washington the son of Stephen and Mary (Hamilton) Cannoy. He married Patricia A. Brown on November 8, 2003. They were the perfect match. She preceded him in death on November 23, 2022.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Cannoy; sisters, Rhonda (Ron) Naples, Joella Higgins, Roberta Oakley and Florence (Mark) Cannoy VanHyfte; brother-in-law, Joe Patrick; sister-in-law, Pam Brown; father-in-law, George Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Jess was preceded in death by his father; sister, Sue Patrick; mother-in-law, Barbara Brown; nephew, Aaron Oakley; and great nephew, Michael Durdel.
Jess attended Sullivan schools until 1974, graduated from Windsor High School Class of 1975, and later attended Lake Land College. He worked at Stuarts and JCPenney at the Cross County Mall until retirement. Jess was a faithful and active member of the Kansas Christian Church. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. Jess loved his cats, Fuzzy and PeeWee. Jess was known by his nieces and nephews as "Uncle." He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
