Jesse Boyd Hall

Jesse Boyd Hall passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at the age of 79. Jesse was born September 26, 1940, in Paradise, Texas, to Joseph and LaVivian (Brown) Hall. He spent much of his life in, Fort Worth, Texas where he attended public schools and graduated from R. L. Paschal High School. Jesse pursued an education in teaching at Texas Wesleyan College (University) and graduated in 1965. It was clear that Jesse possessed the compassion and patience to excel in a teaching profession. After graduating from college, he began working as the Assistant Dean at the Masonic Home Independent School District, a home and school for orphans, where he received his teaching certificate from the Texas Education Agency. His love of teaching led him towards the education of underserved youth of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. In 1980, as the head coach of Amon Carter Riverside High School, he took the boys basketball team to win the state championship. Jesse ended his coaching and teaching career the same year to assist in the development of a new project, the Graduate Placement Center, a program to help students see pathways to careers and college. The mentoring Jesse gave to his pupils for 37 years was remarkable and he made many lifelong friendships with students and their families. He found a perfect career, had a wide network of friends and family, and he had found purpose in his life. Jesse was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, and his mother, LaVivian. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol; his three children, Christina (Mark) Feldstein, Brandon Hall, and Dustin (Allison) Hall; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Keeping with Jesse's spirit towards the pursuit of learning, his remains will be donated to the Willed Body Program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in lieu of a funeral.
