Jesse Ronald Mitchell

Jesse Ronald Mitchell (Ridgerunner), 85, of Timberville, passed away March 28, 2026 at Shenandoah Place in New Market surrounded by family.

He was born March 29, 1940 in Fort Seybert, WV to the late Jesse Claude and Evelyn Arlene Dove Mitchell.

Jesse drove for several trucking companies in his 52 years behind the wheel. He was also a substitute bus driver for Rockingham County Public Schools. His memberships included Independent Community Church, Broadway Lions Club, Timberville Moose Club and the Eagles.

On October 5, 1991 he married Darlene Moyer Hupp Mitchell, who preceded him in death on November 14, 2023.

Surviving are a brother; James Mitchell and wife Gay, sisters; Joan Ritchie, Nancy Harlow and husband Charles, Tammy Morrisey and husband Jim, sons; Jesse C. Mitchell, Roger A. Mitchell Sr., Barry Mitchell, Kent Hupp, daughters; Pam O'Roark and husband Rick, Sheila Hupp and partner Malcolm, 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Per Jesse's request, his body will be cremated.

Pastor Richard Delawder will conduct a celebration of life service Saturday, April 25th at 11:00 AM at Independent Community Church, 9841 Turleytown Rd, Singers Glen, Va. 22850. Jesse's ashes will be buried at Towberman Cemetery in Fort Seybert, WV.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
