Jesse Quiet Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 23, 2025.
Jesse Lee Quiet, Jr., born on July 28, 1956, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, in his beloved hometown.

Jesse was a devoted brother to Clarence Reginald Toussaint (Sabrina) and Alison Toussaint-LeBeaux (Herman). He was a proud and loving uncle to Clarence M. Toussaint, Allen R. Toussaint, Herman LeBeaux III, and Hannah LeBeaux. He will also be missed by his aunt Barbara Bell, uncle Harry Stokes, Godparents John/ Geraldine Bacchus and Godsister Dr. Beryl Bacchus-Keith, as well as a host of cousins and countless dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Quiet Sr.; stepfather, Allen Richard Toussaint; and his cherished mother, Betty Weber.

A gifted athlete in his youth, Jesse excelled in baseball, football, and basketball during his high school years. His remarkable talent on the basketball court earned him a scholarship to Southeastern University before transferring to Dillard University. His educational journey began at Holy Ghost School and continued through Lawless Junior High School and Cohen High School.

Jesse spent several years living in Los Angeles before returning to New Orleans, where he remained deeply connected to the community he loved.

A memorial service celebrating Jesse's life will be held on Friday, January 31st, at 10:00 a.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home.

Jesse's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace.

New Orleans will never be the same without you Jesse. It never occurred to me that the last time we spoke could even possibly be the last time. You said you were gonna be fine. Lord knows I would have dropped everything to help if given the chance. I am so grateful to God for the time we had as friends. You were one of a kind. Jokingly I called you Santa because you truly were a gift. Giving in deed and good spirit. You made everyone feel special. You loved your family so dearly my handsome friend. Your beautiful smile and joyous laughter. The accent in the boisterous way you pronounced my name. I will never forget. I am so heartbroken to navigate through this life missing a friend like you. I know you are resting peacefully with your sweet mama and you wouldn´t leave her for any reason to come back here. Attached is the last picture you sent me doing a job that you truly loved. You had the gift of making everything better. Now you are a new body with Christ Our Lord & Savior. You done well my friend. My condolences to your beautiful siblings, nieces and nephews, extended family and amazing friends. Your memories will be cherished.

I met "Paps" in the 2nd Semester of my Sophomore Year at Southeastern Louisiana University, in the Spring of 1976.
I remember having had talent shows in the front of my dorm, a couple of Friday evenings, when handsful of us stayed on campus for the weekend.
He was comical, fun loving, kind, unpretentious, very handsome and well dressed.
There was an incident in one of the dorms one night, that changed the trajectory of my life, for the next 10 years.
Had Paps not been there, only God knows where I would be today or if I would still "be" at all. He was more mature than the other males with whom he acquainted himself,
but that night when he was the last one standing, I do believe he came into his manhood. The others who ran...scattered as bugs when a light comes on, demonstrated their true immaturity as silly boys.
For decades, I wanted to let Jesse know how I respected and appreciated him for the stance he took that night. He said little but his presence spoke loudly to his good character and integrity.
It's been "forever and a day" since I last saw him, and even longer since that night, back in 1976, but the memory of all that,
and moreover his kindness to me, has been and will forever be ingrained in my heart and mind.
In more recent years, I learned about his long-lasting friendship with my Brother-in-Love, Russell Simeon, that began when the two of them were at Dillard. I never reached out to Jesse, by way of Russ, to express my fondness of him, but I have joy in knowing his countenance remained uplifted, throughout his days on earth.
May his life and times be acknowledged for the wonderful human who he was, even as a very young man and college student,
and the continuity, thereof.
Prayers for showers of blessings,
with comfort and peace, to be poured upon those he loved, and who loved him back.
I hope we meet, again!

To my cousin my heart is broken and I´m going to miss you so much. I´m so glad I was able to talk with you weeks ago. I´m still in shock because I didn´t see this coming. You´re going to a great place where the party doesn´t stop. You´ll be the life of it just like you was here. I send with hugs and kisses to the love ones you´ll get to see again. Love so much cousin and we will see each other again.

It is so hard to believe that Jesse is gone! We met at Holy Ghost School in 2nd grade, and remained friends for the next several years. His personality stood out above many of our classmates. We reconnected at a Holy Ghost reunion several years ago and became FB friends. He was the consummate dresser, always to the nines! Always smiling and always so cool! He had "presence" when he entered a room. To know Jesse was to love him! This is heartbreaking. Truly gone too soon! Sending prayers to his family because he will be sorely missed.
