Mr. Jesse James Starks

Mr. Jesse James Starks was born on December 16, 1943, to the proud parents of Lovett "Lake" and Opal Starks in Pike Zebulon Pike County, Georgia. Jesse was the youngest of ten children. Jesse started his education in the Pike County School System and transferred to Spalding County School, where he attended and graduated from Fairmont High School with the Class of 1964. He and his classmates formed a family bond that has endured for a lifetime.
After graduating, Jesse went on to proudly serve his country as a Soldier in the United States Army, where he served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged March 19, 1968. After completing his military service, Jesse started his career in the automotive industry as a dedicated employee of General Motors Corporation in Atlanta, Georgia, where he retired after many decades of employment.
Jesse was an avid reader and very active out doorman. He loved fishing, farming, and gardening. Jesse loved repairing cars and built a reputation as being a local mechanic. He loved family and friends and always had a special bond with his pets. Jesse was an extremely social person and never met a stranger. He loved fellowshipping and spending quality time with his friends. He was an active member of the E & V Social Club.
On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, Mr. Jesse James Starks left his earthly home to reap his just reward. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lovett and Opal Starks; his daughter, Jessica Starks; his sisters, Hattie Parks, and Hazel Corbin; his brothers, Lovett Starks, Jr., George Starks, John T. Starks, Eugene Ellis, and Henry Ellis.
Mr. Jesse James Starks leaves to cherish his fond and precious memories two daughters, Yolanda Michelle Starks-Murray and Lesley Cosby; two sisters, Katie Ruth Starks and Barbara Alexander; four grandchildren, Jasmine Murray, Jamarcus Cosby, Jamel Cosby and Shantel Cosby; seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 2:00PM in the Chapel at Burden's Funeral Home.
