The life of Jesse Thurmond began with the sunrise on April 2, 1947, and came to a peaceful sunset on April 21, 2025.
He was a faithful servant of God whose life was a testament to love, service, and devotion.Jesse was born in Clarks Hill, South Carolina, to the late Mr. Grover and Katie Thurmond. At a young age, he became a dedicated member of Hosannah Baptist Church, where he faithfully served in multiple roles including Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and as a singer with The Disciples of Praise until his health declined..In February of 1967, Jesse answered the call to serve his country by joining the Armed Forces.
Not long after, he began a lifelong journey with his beloved wife, Patricia Sullivan. Together, they shared 53 beautiful years of marriage and were blessed with two children: a daughter, Jacqueline Thurmond, and a son, Corey Thurmond.
Throughout his life, Jesse created countless cherished memories—whether through traveling, drag racing, or simply spending time with the Lord. His unwavering faith, kind spirit, and deep love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
In his passing, he leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Patricia Thurmond; his loving children, one daughter, Jacqueline Annissa Thurmond, and one son, Corey Tremaine Thurmond; his cherished grandson, Justice Rachi-Nadji Ware (Madisen); and one precious great-granddaughter, Emerson Tate Ware.He is also lovingly remembered by his sister Mary Jane Evans; brothers AJ Thurmond (Glenda), Thomas Thurmond (Lorine), and Stanley Thurmond (Marthia); and sisters Frankie Thurmond, Francis Jones (Willie), Joyce Thurmond, Helen Styles, and Connie Nesbitt (Rene).He is fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
