Jessica Payne Claar, age 61, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025, as a result of a tragic car accident. Jessica was born and raised in
Newport News, VA and graduated as the Homecoming Queen of Menchville High School, class of 1982. She was most known and loved for her larger than life smile, contagious and infectious personality, and her loving and compassionate heart. She worked in the restaurant industry and was the glue to bringing people, places, and things together.
Jessica loved the outdoors, but especially being at the beach and making memories with her loved ones. Jessica was the light in every room she entered and always lit up the brightest when mentioning her children and her grandchildren. Over the last few years she especially loved watching her grandson Carsyn wrestle, there wasn't a match she missed. Khaisyn, her other grandson, brought her profound joy, excitement, and a new lens on life. She loved her two grandsons, and her three children more than life itself, so proud of every step and milestone along the way.
She was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church where she was recently baptized alongside both of her daughters, her grandson Carsyn, and partner Billy. Other hobbies she enjoyed were spending time with family, family vacations, boating, swimming, dancing, and giving warm hugs to just about anyone. She was the absolute best at loving, laughing, and bringing people from all walks of life together.
Preceded in death by both of her parents, William Austin Wright, Sr. and Helen Marie Payne Wright, her brother, William Austin Wright, Jr., her beloved son, Trevor Perry Claar, and Jeffrey Alan Summers. She leaves behind her two daughters, Sandra Claar Powell and Kelsey Payne Claar, her children's father and former spouse, John Perry Claar, Jr., and her grandsons, Carsyn Grahm Parrish and Khaisyn Perry Claar. She also leaves behind her sister, Debra Wright Myslinski and brother-in-law, Edward Myslinski, her nephews, Matthew and Michael Myslinski, his wife, Marissa, and their three children, Massimo, Marco, and Matteo. She is also survived by her step-children, whom she loved as her own, Alexandra Marie Summers and Jeffrey Brandon Summers, his wife Katy, and grandchildren Johanna and Rhys. Jessica will also be dearly missed by her loving and dedicated partner, Alfred William Webster, Jr., "Billy-Bob".
The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., at Weymouth Funeral Home, followed by a Graveside Burial at Peninsula Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m.
