Obituary for Jessica Garcia-Pascual (2005-2025)

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Jessica Garcia-Pascual, age 19, who left this world on June 28, 2025.

Jessica was born on October 23, 2005, in West Chester, PA and was adoringly welcomed into the family of Anna Pascual and Humberto Garcia. Since the day she arrived, every morning began with a "Good morning, sunshine," -a heartfelt habit that brought us all warmth and joy. As the first child on both sides of the family, Jessy was adored by her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins who showered her with endless love and affection. Her childhood was filled with joyful days-playing and laughing with her many cousins, and growing up alongside beloved shows like Dora the Explorer, The Backyardigans and Hannah Montana.

Jessy attended St. Agnes Countdown to Kindergarten, Chester County Family Academy, and Glen Acres Elementary School where she was active in playing the violin and trumpet. She then attended Fugett Middle School where she participated in cross country and started cheerleading for Saint Agnes school. During her time at Rustin High School, she excelled academically, earning numerous Honor Roll Certificates thanks to her strong grades and impeccable attendance. She was also an active and passionate member of both the Walk Her Home Club and the Black Student Union, dedicating herself to causes that mattered deeply to her.

During her years growing up in West Chester she was very active and attended camps such as Brandywine Red Clay Alliance Nature Camp, Chester County Art Association Art Camp and Camp of Light. Jess volunteered at the St. Agnes Dorothy Day Center Outreach Services where she supported a variety programs-from preparing lunches to helping families in need. She loved giving back to the community and found joy in every opportunity to lend a helping hand. As she grew older, she began attending the Westside Community Center as a student seeking help with homework. It gave her so much more than that, it opened her to new friends, mentors and a place where she could be herself and feel accepted, loved and appreciated for who she was. She was part of Reimagining Academic Dreams (RAD), a college preparation program and loved Girls Night and Bible Study along with other memorable and meaningful outings. She loved the Westside so much that she later returned as a dedicated volunteer, eager to give back to the place that always supported her and became her home away from home.

Jess was known as a hardworking and determined individual who took immense pride in earning her own way. She began her journey working in the family restaurant, later contributing her time and energy to the family's lawn care business as well as MAS Mexican Bar and Grill. Never one to settle, Jess always aimed higher in life. Her drive and dedication led her to earn her bartending license, a testament to her desire to grow, learn, and keep pushing forward.

With a lot of hard work and dedication, Jess was accepted to her dream school, Temple University. She was ecstatic and eager to begin a new chapter in her academic journey, especially after successfully completing a challenging freshman year.

Jess is described as a humble and sweet soul. Her kind heart, quick wit, and creative spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was a role model to her younger siblings and cousins that looked up to her. She loved nature walks, picnics, going to Marsh Creek and spending time with family and friends. Always looking forward to outings such as Sixers games, yearly visits to Hershey Park, and beach trips. Family meant everything to her, she looked forward not just to the food, but to the gatherings during holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and the annual cousins Christmas sleepover. Those that knew her would say she really enjoyed food and "sweet treats" and was known as a "foodie." Pozole, playa/acai bowls, boba teas and egg rolls were among her favorite. Some of her other interests included listening to podcasts and music, Hello Kitty, thrifting and Y2K clothing, flowers, pottery and everything Asian including anime.

Among the things she loved and cherished most were her car, her special parking spot made with love by her dad, and the family pets who brought her endless joy, her sweet bunny "BB", and her beloved cats "Boots" and "Beans". Tattoos were deeply meaningful to her, each one had to represent something special. After her bunny passed away, she honored it with a tattoo, and later did the same for her uncle Alfredo by getting his birth flower in his memory.

Jess was a big believer of love and acceptance and was always fully herself - a free spirit, beautiful, bright, funny, brave and fun to be around with. Her presence in our lives was a gift, and her memory will live on in the stories we share, the love we carry, and the light she left behind.

She is survived by her loving parents, Anayeli Pascual (38), Humberto Garcia (39), siblings Alfredo Garcia (16), Sofia Garcia (11), and Olivia Garcia (2 months). Jess is additionally survived by her grandparents, and a large loving family with many aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Pascual and Garcia families who predominately reside in Pennsylvania and Mexico, but also spread across the United States

Jess was deeply loved, and her absence will be felt forever. But so too will her impact, her smile, laughter, and the love she gave so freely.
