Jessie J. (Adams) Matthews, 89, of Felton, PA passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late James O. Matthews.
Born in Abingdon, VA on May 7, 1936, Jessie was the daughter of the late Carl N. and Polly M. (Wilson) Adams. She graduated from Hereford High School in 1955 and later retired from Becton Dickinson in Sparks, MD.
Jessie was a devoted mother and grandmother who found joy in gardening, canning, baking, painting, and spending time with her family. Her warmth and creativity touched everyone around her.
She is survived by her three sons, James E. (Mercedes) Matthews of Freeland, MD, Jeffrey C. (Tonya) Matthews of Felton, PA and John C. (Amy) Matthews of Elburn, IL; eight grandchildren, Misty Mathis, Melissa Matthews, Brandon Hecker, Cecilie Amspacher-Robinson, James Matthews, Hollie Jo Urey, Lily Matthews, and Lexi Matthews; nine great-grandchildren, Jade Mathis, Talia Mathis, Allie Jo Duke, Mirabella Buettner, James Matthews, Piper Urey, Luke Matthews, Rylee Matthews and Chloe Hecker.
Jessie is also survived by her sister Mary (Bill) Matthews of Manchester MD.
She was proceeded in death by her siblings, John W. Phillips, Frances I. Wilson, Lee (June) A. Phillips Jr., Louise Rush, Charles M. Phillips, Carroll (Sonny) N. Adams and Donald G. Adams.
Services will be private.
