Jessie Marie March Palm, 99, a resident of Runk & Pratt Liberty Ridge, died on Friday, April 23, 2021, at Virginia Baptist Hospital.

She was born on December 17, 1921, as the fifth of six children born to Charles Thomas March and Hazel Etta Knight in Glassport, Pa. Her mom died shortly after childbirth when Jessie was only two. Her father farmed out his five children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Ruth Palm; all of her siblings and most of her in-laws.

Jessie was a teenager before she discovered that she had any siblings! She was raised around Western PA and graduated from Glassport High School in 1939. Grandma Palm (dad's mom) took Jessie to Joplin, Miss., to marry her son, Carl John Palm on June 19, 1943. He was stationed there during his United States Army service. They lived in Western Pennsylvania before relocating to Woodbridge, Va., and then on to Fredericksburg. She and Carl moved to Lynchburg in 2005.

Mom always celebrated her birthday on December 18th. She was grown when she got her birth certificate and said she wasn't going to change it! She was a member of Hyland Heights Baptist Church where she helped with the Clothes Closet and Food Pantry Mission for many years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Don of Locust Grove and Jon (Renee) of Strasburg; two daughters, Joyce (Bill) Hajnosz of Locust Grove and Judy (Michael) Robertson of Lynchburg; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and descendants; two sisters-in-law, Marlene Palm of Arona, Pa., and Wilda Poorbaugh of Fredericksburg; and two close friends, Jean and Ross Lishen of Bedford.

There will be no viewing. A celebration of Jessie's Life will be held at a later date.
