Jessie Sledge, a beloved figure in the community and a dedicated business owner, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 92. Born on May 11, 1933, in Eldorado, Arkansas, Jessie was a man who brought laughter and joy to those around him with his vibrant personality and engaging spirit.
For many years, Jessie owned a landscaping business, where he showcased not only his strong work ethic but also his deep appreciation for nature and the beauty of the outdoors. He was known for his exceptional skill and creativity, particularly in woodwork, which culminated in his proud achievement of building a ship from popsicle sticks—a testament to his imaginative prowess and relentless determination.
Jessie was more than just a businessman; he was a true character who loved to engage in conversation. His jovial nature and infectious humor made him a beloved member of his community. He had the ability to light up any room he entered and was often the jokester among friends and family, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation that will be held Friday, September 26, 2025 from 12pm - 7pm at Golden Gate Funeral Home. A celebration of Jessie's life will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Greater New Mt Pilgrim, located at 1943 Ann Arbor Avenue, Dallas, TX, starting at 11:00 AM.
Although Jessie has left this world, his proudest accomplishments, especially that of being a devoted family man, will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, laughter, and creativity will live on in the hearts of many.
