Jesus Gatica Obituary
Jesus Delgado Gatica “Sugarbear”, 67, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2019 in Lubbock. Services for Mr. Gatica will be 10:00 am Friday, January 3, 2020 at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father John Ohlig officiating. Burial will follow in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held, 7:00 pm Thursday, January 2, 2020 in The Chapel of Calvillo Funeral Home in Lubbock with viewing 1:00 pm-9:00pm Wednesday January 1, 2020 and Thursday January 2, 2020 from 9:00a.m. to 7:00pm.
Jesus was born November 4, 1952 in Slaton, Texas to the late Pedro and Pauline Gatica. He married Angeli Flores in Slaton on June 12, 1982 and worked most of his life as a computer operator at Covenant Medical Center. He was a devoted Catholic, a great husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed work and life itself, however; his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends. He was loved by many and his loving demeanor will be missed by all.
He is survived by a son, John Israel Gatica of Lubbock; one daughter, Jessica Orosco (Lionel) of Lubbock; three brothers, Joe D. Gatica, James D. Gatica, John D. Gatica all of Slaton; one sister, Mary Ann Valdez of Slaton; three grandchildren Adalee Orosco, L.J. Orosco and Zaibree Orosco and his step grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son Jesse James Gatica (1988), a sister Teresa Hernandez (2011).
