It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jose R. Gatica, who left us on February 14, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on August 10, 1932, Jose lived a long and fulfilling life, marked by his dedication to family, community, and country. He was the youngest of his nine (two sisters and six brothers) siblings.
Jose proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he held the rank of Corporal in the Delta Battery of the 25th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. His commitment to serving his nation was a testament to his character and values.
Jose, a dedicated and hardworking man, served as the foreman for the city of Corpus Christi, where his commitment to his work and community was evident. With a dream to forge his own path, he eventually opened his own business as a backhoe operator, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and expertise in the field. Outside of work, Jose found joy in the great outdoors. He loved to trail ride on his horses, embracing the freedom and tranquility that nature provided. Whether it was exploring new trails or spending quiet moments with his beloved animals, these experiences brought him immense happiness. In addition, Jose had a knack for tinkering with his farming projects, always eager to learn and innovate.
Jose is survived by his loving children: Jesus Jose Gatica (late wife Gilda), Rosario L. Gatica, Helen Orozco (late husband Miguel), Jose Alberto Gatica (Diana), Margarita Lopez (Noe), Jose Ernesto Gatica (late), Jose Marcos Gatica, and Jose Javier Gatica. He leaves behind a legacy through his 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
