Elida Castro, 96, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026. Born on July 12, 1929, to Jose Nava and Maria De Los Angeles Gomez Nava, Elida lived a life defined by curiosity, compassion, and an adventurous spirit. A proud graduate of Roy Miller High School's Class of 1946, she completed her studies at just 16 years old, the youngest in her class.

Elida built a meaningful career as a driving school instructor, eventually retiring from a profession she approached with patience, humor, and dedication. Outside of work, she embraced life with enthusiasm. She rescued animals, traveled widely, bowled with joy, and never shied away from new adventures. Her laughter, radiant smile, and boundless love left an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and cousin. Elida is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Police Lieutenant Henry Castro; her brothers Ricardo Nava and Raymondo Nava, her sister Yolanda Nava Sanchez, twins Luis and Rogelio Nava, Ninfa Nava and Ramiro Nava.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia Lyn Castro and Dr. Enrique Gustavo Castro; her daughter in law, Andrea K. Castro; and her siblings Soccoro Nava Moreno, Irma Nava Valdez, and Angelita Nava Ramirez.

A gathering will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Corpus Christi Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Seaside Memorial Park.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Corpus Christi Funeral Home and to all the family and friends who loved and supported Elida throughout her life.
