Jewel Marie Thrasher Anderton, 93, of Town Creek, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 09, 2025 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Riley and Rev. Larry Crumpton officiating. Burial will be at Hardshell Cemetery.
Born on September 1, 1931 in Lawrence County to the late Jim and Mary Oliver Thrasher, Jewel was a supportive pastor's wife, VBS teacher, Sunday school teacher, and cook at youth camp for many years. She enjoyed "word search" puzzles, sewing, gardening, and cooking (especially peanut brittle).
Survivors include her children, Merrell Anderton, Karen (Tim) Hargrove, Donna (Shawn) Sellers, and Mark (Leanne) Anderton; daughter-in-law, Izettia Anderton Bruce; grandchildren, David (April) Anderton, Crystal (Greg) Leland, Leslie (Evan) Hawkins, Natalie (Lauren) Phillips, Erica (Stephen) Teske, Lauren (Steven) Benavides, Tyler (Margaret) Sellers, Tucker Sellers, Austin Anderton, Chase (Shannon) Anderton, and Conner Anderton; 27 great-grandchildren; sister, Pauline Loosier; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Jewel was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, James Anderton; parents; son, Joel Anderton; daughter-in-law, Jane Anderton; sister, Marcene Adams; brothers, Bobby Thrasher, and Billy Thrasher.
Pallbearers will be Tucker Sellers, David Anderton, Tyler Sellers, Austin Anderton, Chase Anderton, and Conner Anderton. Honorary pallbearers are Carlos Borden, Charles Borden, Kenny Hood, Tony Adams, Clinton Yarbrough, Rickey Yarbrough, Jeff Loosier, Keith Thrasher, Stacy Thrasher, Brian Thrasher, Rufus Long, and Freddie Stephenson.
The family extends special thanks to nurses and staff of Alabama Hospice of the Shoals.
