KINGSPORT - Jewel Kathryn Baker, 98, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 18, 1926, in Evarts, KY, to the late John Wesley and Bessie Campbell Owens. She was one of ten siblings. In her early years, Jewel worked in sales for Nettie Lee but was a homemaker at heart. She was passionate about taking care of her family. Jewel loved to serve her Lord and was a devoted member of Grace Christian Church in Kingsport. She enjoyed baking, especially during Christmas, and was a chocolate lover. Family was the most important thing in Jewel's life. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her, but her memory will live on.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Baker; son, Butch Brock, Jr.; son-in-law, Gary Parks; and her nine siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Sue Parks, Sharon Blanton (Dale); grandchildren, Kathi Stagnolia (Reecie), Lisa Burchfield (Darrin), Debbie Parks (Mike), Missy Hampton (Charlie), Terri Jenkins (Tommy), Jack Brock (Melinda), and Linzi Hatley; thirteen great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Ed Clevenger officiating and music provided by Gary Beverly.
Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park with family and guests traveling in procession.
Pallbearers will be Tim Adkins, Charlie Reynolds, Tommy Jenkins, Jack Brock, Reecie Stagnolia, and Darrin Burchfield.
