Jewel Marie Fuwell of Davisville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis at the age of 84 years and 5 days. She was born February 24, 1941 in Collinsville, Illinois to Thomas Leroy Patterson and Jewel Woodard Patterson.
Jewel grew up in a Pentecostal faith church as a young child giving her life to Christ. In later years after moving to the area, she faithfully attended the Center Ridge Pentecostal church. She grew up in Collinsville, IL graduating from the local high school. On September 23, 1961, Jewel was united in marriage to Oscar "Doyle" Fuwell and to this union two children were born.
She was employed at a manufacturing plant in St. Louis for several years.
Jewel enjoyed shopping, watching T.V. and working crossword puzzles. In the earlier years, she and her husband, Doyle, loved taking their family camping to California. In later years, Jewel and her husband loved traveling to Florida, the Carolina's and California. Jewel also enjoyed going with the family when they were fishing, but fishing wasn't her sport, she would just rather ride in the boat with them and enjoy the day. Most of all she loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Jewel Patterson; her son, Kevin Fuwell; infant granddaughter, Angel Grace Carmack; brother, Thomas Patterson; and sister Portia Ann Clubb; mother and father-in-law, Oscar and Ruby Fuwell; sisters-in-law, Virginia (Roy) Reid, Shirley Dover and Louise Watts; and brother-in-law, Glen (Mary) Fuwell.
She will be lovingly missed by her husband of almost 64 years, Doyle Fuwell of Davisville, MO; daughter, Cindy (Terry) Martin of Davisville, MO; her late son's significant other, Leann Brown; 8 grandchildren, Dawn Marie (Joe) Weirich, Ryan (Angel) Carmack, Caleb (Ruby) Carmack, Kevin (Dana) Fuwell, Joshua (Amy) Fuwell, Amanda (Mark) Fuwell, Samantha Ransom and Jordan Ransom; 13 great-grandchildren, Philip, Jacob and Jared, Serenity, Raegan, Landon, Parker, Colten, Leah, Skye Marie, Gunner, Tanner and TJ; brother, Louis Patterson of St. Clair, MO; brothers-in-law, Leonard Clubb of IL and Leon Dover of St. John, MO; special family member, Cathy (Mel) Hendrix; other relatives; friends; and church friends.
The Family will received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in
Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025 with Pastor Harrison Brown officiating. Special music of "Amazing Grace" and a medley of songs were sung by Bob and Carol Coleman.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Davisville Cemetery, Davisville, MO.
Honored to be casket bearers were Ryan Carmack, Caleb Carmack, Mike Abbott, Philip Stites, Josh Fuwell and Mark Tobiasz with Terry Martin and Kevin Fuwell as honorary.
Memorials may be given to the Davisville Cemetery.
