Jewell Godfrey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Roberts Funeral Home on Dec. 5, 2025.
Our beloved wife, mother, and Nona, Jewell Mae Godfrey, 71, of Booneville, Arkansas passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with COPD. She was born February 11, 1954, in Booneville, Arkansas, to Olean and Quinda Roberson.

She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church and earlier in her life, she was employed as a bank teller at both Citizens Bank and Regions Bank where she made many lifelong friends. In addition, she worked at the Gretsch Guitar Plant, Pizza Barn, and KFC. Jewell loved trout fishing and camping with family and friends. Her favorite spot to reel in the biggest trout was the White River at Bull Shoals. Many wonderful memories were made here.

Jewell loved her family and friends more than anything and would often show her love by cooking or baking up their favorite dish. Baking was her passion and she was the best at it. Whether it was one of her famous wedding or birthday cakes, banana pudding, coconut pie, pan of homemade rolls, or Thanksgiving dressing – no matter what it was, it was delicious. Because she was such an amazing cook, she sometimes liked to playfully critique everyone else's culinary skills.

Jewell found the most joy in spending time with her grandchildren, they were the light of her life. She told them the best bedtime stories, gave them the best hugs, and very rarely ever told them "No". She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed every day for the rest of our lives.

Jewell is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 53 years, Gary Godfrey of the home; son, Bruce Godfrey of Booneville, Arkansas; daughter, Cara Lensing (Mike) of Greenwood, Arkansas; grandchildren, Laryn and Declan Godfrey and Olivia and Brooks Lensing; brother, Joe Bill Roberson (Karen); sister, Sue Sims (Larry); and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Olean and Quinda Roberson; her infant son, Brian "Spook" Godfrey; and brothers, Bobby and Lester Roberson.

A visitation with the family will be held at the First Baptist Church of Booneville at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 11, 2025.

A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 2:00 pm, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home. Jewell's favorite color was light pink. Please feel free to wear something pink or any color to help celebrate the life of our precious wife, mom, and Nona.
