It is deep regret that we announce that Jill Ann Bernick passed away on December 17th, 2024, at the age of 77. Jill was born on May 31, 1947, in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Ernest and Betty Jean Brehmer. She was raised in Oshkosh, Wisconsin along with her seven brothers and one sister.
On December 2nd, 1967, she married John (Jack) Bernick, and the endless Jack and Jill jokes began. Little did she know that her life would drastically change. She became a military wife with all the responsibilities of raising two children (Jeff and Jenna) while her husband was on numerous deployments. She enjoyed horseback riding and jumping obstacles at Fort Bragg riding club. After eight years of active duty the Bernick family moved to California. Her husband was hired by the Airlines and the National Guard. Once again, Jill had the responsibility of raising two kids and keeping the family together.
Jill earned an associate degree at Moorpark College and worked several part-time jobs. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends. But her primary focus remained the family. Jill spent over twenty years volunteering at St. John's hospital providing dog therapy to patients and staff with JJ and Angel.
She is survived by John, Jeff, Jenna Bernick and her three grandchildren Jessalyn, David, and Sarah Bernick. She is also survived by her sister Holly Eichman, and brothers Tim Brehmer, Dennis Brehmer, Ernie Brehmer, and Danny Brehmer. Jill will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be announced later. Jill will be buried in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Donations can be made to "Love on a Leash" and the "National Breast Cancer Foundation".
