Jill Crouch Obituary

Obituary of Jill Y. Crouch
Jill Y. Crouch, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Martinsville, NJ, on April 29, 2023, at the age of 77.
Born on January 26, 1946, in Bridgeport, CT, Jill was raised in Arlington, TX. She resided in North Haven, CT, and later in Northford, CT, before moving to Scotch Plains, NJ. Most recently, in March of 2021, she moved to Martinsville, NJ to live with her daughter.
After earning her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, she went on to earn her Master's degree at Quinnipiac University in CT. Her career spanned Clinical Hematology, Virology, Chemistry and Molecular Science at Yale. She presented papers written for medical journals in places such as Taiwan, Canada, and Suriname.
In addition to her scientific pursuits, Jill never lost her passion for art. After retiring, she devoted herself to painting and became an active member of several art societies, including the Essex Water Color Club, the Garden State Watercolor Society, and the NJ Water Color Society. Art was a big passion of hers, and she loved to immerse herself in the vibrant colors and textures of the world around her.
Jill was also an avid gardener. As member of the Garden Club of Westfield, she shared her love of gardening with others and was proud to host a club meeting in the garden of her Martinsville home.
Her favorite vacation trips included Hawaii, England, Ireland, China, and a cruise down the Rhine River. Locally, she loved going to New York City to see musicals on Broadway.
Jill was predeceased by her loving husband, Henry A. Crouch, DMD, in 2006, and her brother, John Jamieson. She is survived by her two children, Kenneth Crouch and Carolyn Varker, their spouses, Kristen and Alan, respectively, two grandchildren, Kevin T. Crouch and Abigail Varker, and three siblings, Scott Jamieson, Judy Goff, and Jan Roeton.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Essex Water Color Club, the Garden State Watercolor Society, the The Garden Club of Westfield, or BroadwayCares.org.
Jill will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kind heart, infectious smile, and passion for art and science will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy lives on in her beautiful artwork and the memories she created with her family and friends.
