Jill Maxwell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crews Funeral Home on Feb. 3, 2026.
Jill Stockton Maxwell, 69, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 31, 2026. She was born July 12, 1956, in Hobart, Oklahoma, to James and Billie (Nance) Stockton, who instilled in her a deep love of family, conversation, and music-qualities she carried throughout her life.
Jill's professional life was as varied as her talents. She worked as a salesperson for a magazine and later as a secretary for several years before moving into programming and computer repair, where her curiosity and determination served her well. Her most meaningful work, however, came through her involvement with an online lupus support group. As an administrator, Jill guided and encouraged hundreds of people seeking information on treatments, therapies, and day-to-day coping. Her compassion, patience, and willingness to listen made her a lifeline for many navigating the challenges of chronic illness.
Jill married the love of her life, Jessie "Dewayne" Maxwell, on February 22, 2000. Together they built a blended family that she cherished above all else. She adored her children and grandchildren, embracing each one with unwavering affection and pride.
A gifted pianist, Jill found joy in music and shared that joy freely with those around her. She also delighted in British conservative television shows and never missed an opportunity for a good conversation-whether with family, friends, or someone she had only just met. Her warmth, humor, and openness made her easy to love and impossible to forget.
Preceded in death by her parents and brothers, James Dale and Jimmy Don Stockton, Jill is survived by her husband Dewayne; son, Brandon Willis and wife Marci of Amarillo, TX; step-daughters: Shelly Gregory (Mark), Nicki Potteiger (Darrick), grandchildren: Aaron Willis, Kaden Cook, Christopher Gregory, Zachary Potteiger, Ireland Potteiger, Maya Potteiger, Gavin Potteiger. Other survivors include her sisters: Judy Stockton, Jeanie Stockton Smith (Edward), nephews: Gary Grantham, Matthew Joseph Smith(Kristin), Heath Austin Stockton, James Jason Stockton (LeeAnn), Triston Don Stockton; niece: Traci Dawn Cain, great-nephews: Ryan Andrew Grantham, Mark Edward Smith (Melissa), Mitch Smith (Jami), Austin Dale Collin, Jared Luke Stockton (Kristin), Triston Don Stockton; great nieces: Laken Raylene Grantham, Erin Renaye (Matt), Michelle Leigh Schneider (James),Madison Nicole Stockton; great-great-nephews: Wyatt Luke, Logan, Liam, Maxwell, Stetson; great-great-nieces: Haley, Brianna (Zach), Violet James, Makenzie; sisters-in-law: Shirley Duffy and Carolyn Page (Jimmy); and close friend Karen Langlotz.
A memorial service is planned for 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 6, in the Crews Funeral Home Chapel with Jon Syverson officiating.

February 5, 2026

Sixty-nine years of a life well-spent.
Filled with love, wherever you went.
From childhood dreams, to the golden years.
We shared our laughter and dried our tears.
A lifelong bond that time couldn't break,
Treasured memories in my heart you make.
Though you've traveled on, you're never far,
You're the brightest light, my guiding star.
Jill you will live in my heart forever.
Love, Patti Shockley Edgar
