Jill Preest Kirk McGregor, 85, lived in Suburban Chicago and
Scottsdale, AZ. She passed away on February 19, 2026. She was born in Columbus, OH, in 1940 to Bernice and Edwin Preest, attended Ohio State University where she met Lysle, graduating with a degree in Early Childhood Education. As a young mother, she worked as a teacher at Mimi's Merry. Morning School, and later as Head Teacher at NSAR (Northwest Suburban Aid for the Retarded). In 1988 Jill began working as a Realtor at McLennan Residential Sales in Park Ridge, IL, and became a Lifetime Member of the Million Dollar Club.
Jill was a choir member of 20th Century Club Juniors for many years, and volunteered as co- chair for their Fashion Show Benefit. She served at Park Ridge Presbyterian Church as a Deaconess, an Elder, and sang in the choir. She was the Chairman of the Mission and Evangelism Committee, as Coordinator of Home Study Groups, and served on the Pastoral Nominating Committee. After moving to
Scottsdale, Arizona, she sang in the choir at Valley Presbyterian Church of Scottsdale, and went on several mission trips to Mexico. She became a Stephen's Minister with VPC, and used those skills working with the Chaplain of Wanless Hospital on a medical mission trip to India. Jill continued to participate in and help coordinate various Bible Study groups in Arizona.
Jill enjoyed participating in and attending musical and arts events. She traveled the world with her husband Larry, including international trips with each grandchild. Family was important to both Jill and Larry as they spent holidays with extended family and attended reunions from both sides of the family.
Jill was preceded in death by her parents, her late beloved husbands Lysle Kirk of 21 years and Larry McGregor of 29 years, by her dear sister and brother, Kay Drozdowski and Edwin "Pete" Preest. Jill is survived by the Kirk children and grandchildren: Heather, Lysle "Scot" (Tiffany and their children Bella and Maddie), and Stuart (Elizabeth and their children Gunnar and Delaney). Nieces and nephews Steve (Kirsten), Paula (Mac), Jenny (Jeff) and Chris (Amy), great nieces and nephews, and her in-laws Stan Drozdowski and Sandy Preest.
She was also preceded in death by her step-daughter Debbie Robacki (Ken-living). Jill was survived by step-children Sheila Fowler (Jeff) and Mike McGregor (Dini); by her step-grandchildren Renee, Chelsea, Jessica, Daniel, Kaitlyn, Ryan, and Matthew; by her step-great-grandchildren: Amber, Brandon, Isaac, Julie, Aaliyah, Kalani, Layla and Miles; and by her step-great-great grandchildren: Emma, Miles, and Meredith.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley. A Reception celebrating Jill's life will be held at Maravilla Scottsdale on Saturday, April 18th, at 1 pm. Please contact a family member to RSVP.
