James Perrin Anderson, 72, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born in Anderson and raised in Antreville, he was the son of the late Joseph Perrin Anderson, Jr. and Lynda Bolt Anderson. Jim was a graduate of Erskine College and received a master's degree in public health from the University of South Carolina and a Post Graduate Certificate in public health from Duke University. He was a retired Hospital and Home Health Care Administrator. Jim was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve with 19 years of service. He was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He was a former Rotarian, former Optimist Club member, and former President of the Anderson Arts Council. Jim was a member of Central Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mary Jo Hazle Anderson; daughter, Leigh Fulmer (Hunter); son, Joe P. Anderson III (Mary Katherine); granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Fulmer; sister, Jane Rivers (John C. Rivers III); niece, Katie Shannon (Tresco); nephews, John C. Rivers IV, and Andy Hazle; and a great-nephew, Watson Shannon.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection and a Celebration of the Life of Jim Anderson will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Central Presbyterian Church, 1404 North Boulevard, Anderson, conducted by Rev. Dr. Michael York. The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall of the church following the service. A private family burial will be at Nazareth Presbyterian Church in Moore, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
