Jimmie Norman Davis, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at the age of 84. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy, laughter, and love live on in all who knew him.

Born on September 12, 1940, in Trinidad, Colorado, Jim was the sixth of seven children to Earl and Pearl Davis. He was raised near Tobe, Colorado, where his love for horses, cattle, and the land took root.

A proud graduate of Kim High School (Class of 1959), Jim married the love of his life, Shirley Mitchell, on November 24, 1962. This was the beginning of a love story that spanned more than six decades. Their bond was built on service to God, sacrifice, and joy — a steadfast love that deepened with every trial and season of life.

Jim and Shirley began their marriage in a humble home on the Mesa De Maya Ranch. They later moved to Red Rocks and, in 1963, took a leap of faith by purchasing Keeling Oil Company, building it into a thriving multi-state business. While growing their business, Jim and Shirley also grew a family. They were blessed with three children: Bryan, Shawn, and Jody. Their marriage became a model of enduring love — steady, quiet, and powerful — shaping the lives of their children, grandchildren, and all who saw it.

Jim sold the business in 1997 and returned to ranching, taking pride in his red Angus cattle. After retiring, he and Shirley became snowbirds in Uvalde, Texas, where Jim quickly found a new audience for his stories and jokes.

In 2012, they moved to Colorado City. Though health issues slowed him, they never stopped him. Jim continued to enjoy yardwork, friends, reading westerns on his Kindle, and a “shot of cream” with friends and family.

Jim’s legacy is one of humility, hard work, faith, and kindness. He lived with honesty and selflessness, never met a stranger, and always brought joy wherever he went.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; sister Lois Smith; children Bryan (Karen) Davis, Shawn (Karen) Davis, and Jody (Brett) Bannon; grandchildren Elisa (Brian) Rogers, Michael (Stacy) Davis, Kaylee (Lane) Byerly, Hannah Davis, Joshua (Emily) Bannon, Jared (Raegan) Bannon, and Jordyn (Hayden) Pearce; and 13 great-grandchildren: Jace, Jacklyn, Lucy, Wyatt, Maverick, Weston, Cooper, Scarlet, Jeffery, Jackson, Quincy, Leo, Luke, and the soon-to-arrive Baby Pearce.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Lloyd, Sybil, Allen, Jean, and Roy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 8, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church in Trinidad, Colorado, with a family graveside service to follow at the Masonic Cemetery. Officiants will include Larry Moyer of EvanTell and Pastor Charlie Jones, Senior Pastor at Fellowship of the Rockies.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Jim’s memory to EvanTell (Home - EvanTell | Prepare. Go. Tell.) or Fellowship of the Rockies (Fellowship of the Rockies - Pueblo).

A note found in the cover of Jim’s Bible reads: “Help me to live each day you give me, Lord - to live it to your Glory.”

May we all strive to live as Jim did — with purpose, faith, and love that honors God.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
