LOUIS JOE MORALES, JR. Louis Joe Morales, Jr., affectionately known as Sonny, was born on September 17, 1945, in La Junta, Colorado. He peacefully departed this world on September 5, 2025, at the Joni Fair Hospice House in Pueblo, Colorado.  For over three decades, Sonny worked in the food services department at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Fort Lyon, Colorado.  In the early 2000s, he embraced a new chapter by taking on the role of a valued employee at the Bent County Correctional Facility for over ten years.  Sonny found passion and joy in an active lifestyle. He was an avid lover of exercise, steadfastly lifting weights and maintaining a healthy diet. His competitive spirit often surfaced through his enjoyment of arm wrestling, a pastime that brought him both thrill and camaraderie.  Sonny leaves behind his beloved family, who will carry his memory forward with love and devotion. He is survived by his daughters, Laura L. (Grant) Morales-Garcia of Fowler, CO, and Raquel (Troy Pierce) Morales of Pueblo; his stepson, Andrew (Shannon) Cortinez of Thornton, CO; and stepdaughter, Pamela (Don Brown) Cook of Junction City, KS. The bond he shared with his nephew, George (Raylene) Vigil of Rocky Ford, and his special friend, Enis Morales, was a source of joy and strength throughout his life.   Though he leaves this world, Sonny is preceded in death by his loving parents, Louis Morales, Sr., and Rose Gallegos, as well as his sisters, Delores "Dolly" Grajeda and Gloria Rael. He will also be reunited with his cherished nieces, RoseAnn Hernandez and Cheryl Hernandez, and his step-grandson, Andy Cortinez, who await him in eternal peace.  A Memorial Mass in honor of Louis Joe Morales, Jr. will be held on September 11, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick's Parish, located at 518 West 3rd Street, La Junta, CO 81050, starting at 10:00 AM.  As we remember Louis Joe Morales, Jr., we reflect on a life overflowing with love and kindness. Online condolences may be made at www.PeacockFH.com.
