Jimmie "Jim" Wayne Frye, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on December 13, 2024, in Gravette, AR, at the age of 88. Born on February 8, 1936, in Delaware County, OK, Jim's life was one marked by dedication, resilience, and joy.
Jim met the love of his life, Louise Rutherford. They were united in marriage in Miami, OK on Valentine's Day, 1959. Their loving partnership was blessed with three sons: Roger Wayne Frye and his wife, Terri, of Gravette, AR, Erin Joe Frye of Gravette, AR, and the late Jeffrey Christopher Frye. He was also preceded in death by triplet boys. The joy of being a grandfather to Jesse Wayne Frye was a role that he held dear to his heart.
Jim was a proud brother to Gary Lee Frye of Clarksville, TX, and Charlotte Priest of Vass, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Clarice (Drake) Frye; three brothers, Danny Joe Frye, Dennis Bradley Frye, and Tony Wallace Frye.
Jim's professional life was as robust and varied as the man himself. He worked in construction as a skilled machine operator for Hyman Michaels and Commercial Metals, both in Dallas, TX. Demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit, Jim was also self-employed in trucking and took great pride in his work as a farmer. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident to all who knew him. Beyond his professional endeavors, Jim had a rich life full of hobbies and interests. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace and excitement in fishing and hunting, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and enjoy the simpler pleasures of life.
His fascination with communication led him to become an amateur radio operator with the callsign KV5F, a hobby that enabled him to reach out and connect with people across the globe. He still checked in daily to the Central States net on 40 Meters. Jim's commitment to his community was unwavering. He was a dedicated Mason and a proud member of the Masonic Lodge #544 in Jay, Oklahoma. His involvement in the lodge was not just about fellowship; it was about service, integrity, and building a strong community. Those who knew Jim understood that his life was a testament to the values he held dear: family, hard work, and service. His presence was a source of stability and strength, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
