Harold Lewis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clark Funeral Home - Neosho on Mar. 11, 2026.
Harold O'Neil Lewis Sr. passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones on March 10, 2026, at the age of 73. Harold was born on August 11, 1952, in Neosho, Missouri to Clayton O'Neil and Ernestine (Hall) Lewis. At a young age, his father passed away. His mother married Gilbert Cook, the man that would raise Harold as his own.

Harold grew up and attended school in Neosho. He wed Melinda Lou Price on June 16, 1981, in Miami, Oklahoma. They shared 44 years of life together before his passing. He worked as a food service supervisor at St. John's/Mercy Hospital for several years before deciding to work on a poultry farm with his brother. After working in the poultry business, he chose to go back to work at Mercy, where he retired after 24 years of dedicated service.

When he wasn't working, Harold could be found cheering on his favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals. He was an avid fan of baseball for as long as anyone can remember. He played for the Neosho A's and coached Brothers and Friends, men's slow-pitch softball. He was blessed with a beautiful voice that he used to sing Gospel music. A long-time member of the Waymakers Quartet, he sang with his mother, stepdad, sister, and wife. He was a man of faith and was a devout Protestant. An ordained minister, faithful studier of the Bible, and former pastor at Trinity Worship Center in Goodman, Missouri, he served those around him and shared his knowledge of the Word.

He was a wonderful Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He gave them rides on his 4-wheeler, shared his love of baseball and taught them to play wiffle ball at a young age, loved to sing to the babies and grandchildren, and sing with his children. His motto "Don't sweat the small stuff. Remember, it's all small stuff", still rings in their ears.

Harold is survived by his wife, Melinda; children: Angela Sanders (Fred) of Joplin, Missouri, Brian Lewis of Republic, Missouri, Mindy Singh of West Chester, Ohio, Shelly Gaydusek (Warren) of Gravette, Arkansas, and Harold Lewis Jr "Scooter" (Emily) of Neosho, Missouri; 12 grandchildren: Mariah Stone, Miranda Renteria, Jaden Singh, Adelie Singh, Parker Singh, Gracen Gaydusek, Patience Gaydusek, Eliana Gaydusek, Braylon Lewis, Bostyn Lewis, Bennett Lewis, and Brady Lewis; great-grandchildren: Memphis Stone, Letty Stone, Penelope Renteria and Sophie Renteria is expected to arrive any day. He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Lewis; his mother and stepfather, Gilbert and Ernestine Cook; his brother, Terry Lewis; and 3 grandchildren: Tanner Sanders, Beckham Lewis, and Gabriel Gaydusek.

In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made to the Neosho High School Baseball Program.
