Jim Stewart Griffith, 95, of Massillon, Ohio, entered his eternal home with his Lord and Savior on January 8, 2025. Born November 1, 1929, Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years Lucille (Vance) Griffith, sons Daniel (Ann) Griffith, William Griffith, Jeffery (Lisa) Griffith, Thomas (Marsha) Griffith, daughters Amy Martin, Joan (Mike) Shingleton, grandchildren: Chris Griffith; Eric Beebe, Maureen Jeffery, Claire Merrick; Michael Griffith, Heather Fabek, JJ Martell; Joshua, David and Jonathan Griffith; Tyler Griffith and Chelsie DeLeon; Charlie and James Martin; Bryan and Ashley Shingleton, 17 great-grandchildren, and brother Ronald Griffith. He is preceded in death by his parents Webster and Willa (Warner) Griffith, by brothers Eugene Griffith, Cliff Griffith, Glenn Griffith, and Larry Griffith, and by daughter-in-law Madeline Griffith.
Jim graduated in 1947 from Canton Township (South) High School. While he drove truck for 38 years for Superior Meats, it was his love for horses that shaped his life. Jim and Lucille bought a farm in Canton and later moved their family to the Stanwood area near Dalton, Ohio. He enjoyed music and for over 60 years played banjo with Buckhill Plow Boys and with Joyfull Sounds. He passed his love of music to his children and grandchildren as he played and sang with them throughout his life. A man of true integrity, Jim stood firm in his faith in God walking out that faith in daily living and being active in his church, Faith Community Fellowship in Massillon. Jim was a selfless man whose impact will be forever felt by those who love him. His ability to sacrifice, support, forgive and love leaves them not only an example of living life well, but also, an unfillable gap in the hearts of his family.
Visitation will take place from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Monday, January 13, 2025 at Paquelet Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 1:00pm with Pastor Dave Kimberly officiating.
A special thanks to Pastor Mike, Laura, Karen, and Jodi.
