Jim J. Noll passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025, after a short illness, just five weeks short of his 101st birthday. He was born November 7, 1924, at home in the Mooney Creek community in Jefferson County, Kansas. His parents were Lawrence and Minnie (Corpstein) Noll. His grandparents were early settlers in Atchison and Jefferson counties: Bloss Noll, Mary (Hund) Noll, Tom Corpstein, and Kate (Greiner) Corpstein.

In August 1934 he moved to a farm southwest of Effingham with his parents and sisters. Jim graduated from Atchison County High School in 1942 and was last surviving graduate of that class.

He married Mary Louise Hanway on April 12, 1958, in St. Joseph, Missouri. They lived their entire lives on the farm near Effingham. She passed away on August 15, 2018. Jim was a farmer all his life.

Mr. Noll was predeceased by his wife, parents, and sisters Jean Kelly and Helen Miller Karczewski.

He is survived by three children: Eric Noll of Effingham, Jenny Henderson of Alma, and Rita Noll (Bruce Gant) of Council Grove. He leaves behind three grandchildren: John Henderson and wife Jenny of Alington, TX, Rosie Henderson of Topeka, and Jim Gant of Seattle, WA. His two great grandchildren are John and Joanna Henderson.

He is also survived by his sister Ruby Foret of Westwood and sister-in-law Dorothy Halling of Denton.

Church services will be held 10:30 am Friday, October 3, 2025, at St. Ann's Church in Effingham with Fr. Roopesh Govindu as Celebrant, with burial to follow at St. Ann's Cemetery. Lunch will be served in the church hall following the committal service. The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Becker Chapel, 402 3rd Street, Effingham. Memorials are suggested to St. Ann's Alter Society or Atchison County Emergency Medical Services and may be sent in care of the Becker Dyer Stanton Funeral Home.
