James "Jim" Herbert Peterson was born in Vallejo CA to Grace Priscilla Rogers Peterson and James Harold Peterson. He volunteered for the U.S. Marine Corps in 1964 and proudly served two tours in Vietnam. He earned the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged in 1967. He was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed fly tying, hunting, shooting and reloading, and carpentry. Jim enjoyed his role and excelled as the Sunday school teacher for the Explorer Group at Hope Baptist Church.
Jim is survived by his wife of 12 ½ years, Beverly Binion Peterson; children: James "Pete" (Lucinda) Peterson, Tina (Brandon) Harris, and Joshua (Agnese) Malcolm; grandchildren: Krista (Stacey) Moore, Irion Peterson, Brooking Peterson, Isabella Peterson, James "Levi" Peterson, Roddick Peterson Harris, Salem Harris, Paisley Harris, and Kimberly Malcolm; brother: John Thomas (Lorrie) Peterson; mother-in-law: Dolores Binion; sisters-in-law: Jamie Bradshaw and Christy (Rick) Bettini; and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents Grace and James Peterson.
