James "Jim" Rogers 87, of Alford entered Heaven's gates on Thursday, January 5, 2023. He was a wonderful husband, dedicated father and a generous grandfather. He was a long time member of the Nazarene Church and loved worship music and teaching Sunday school. He was an Army veteran and retired from Houston Lighting and Power in 1992 after serving the public for 28 years.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Bryant Rogers and Beulah Bird Rogers, brothers William Roy and Paul Rogers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Canant Rogers, daughters, Kathy Rogers and Sharon Milton (Michael John), sons James Rogers Jr and Rickey Chesteen (Cheryl), grandchildren Jamie Rogers, Levi Rogers, Amanda Odom (Ben), Heather Chesteen, Michael John Milton II, Adam Johnson (Mackenzie), Eron Garrett (Dale) and great grandchildren Paige and Deacon Rogers, Eleanor and Oliver Odom, Criston, Ruth and Willis Johnson, Peyton Garrett. Surviving brothers, Robert Rogers (Diane), Edward Rogers (Aggie), Thomas Rogers (TJ), Gary Rogers (Pat), sisters Dixie Moore, Jeanie Rogers-Amason, and Susie Anderson (Ron) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel, Monday January 9, 2023 from 4:00-5:00 PM.
Funeral services will be 5pm at James & Sikes with Robert Canant and Lavon Pettis officiating.
