Jimmie Ray Bull, Sr.

  With profound respect and heartfelt sorrow, we honor Jimmie Ray Bull, Sr., a remarkable man who went to be with the Lord at the age of 86 on May 19, 2024, in Weatherford, Texas. Born on April 20, 1938, in St. Jo, Texas, to the late J.B. Bull and Rosetta (Harwood) Bull, Jimmie led a life marked by dedication, service, faith, and love. He was known for his warm smile, gentle nature, and unwavering faith. He has now gone to be with his beloved wife and our Lord Jesus Christ, finding eternal peace and joy in their heavenly presence.

  Jimmie Ray Bull, Sr. was a beacon of service for his country. His journey commenced with the United States Marine Corps and culminated with his retirement from the United States Army. His unwavering commitment to public service continued when he became a Deputy Sheriff with the Montague County Sheriff's Department, and he eventually rose to the position of Chief of Police for the St. Jo Police Department in St. Jo, Texas. His impact as a police officer in Haltom City, Texas, left an enduring legacy within the community.

  In his younger years, Jim displayed remarkable athletic ability, earning him recognition as an All-City First Team football player in Fort Worth. His talents transcended the realm of sports as he pursued various artistic endeavors in carving, poetry, drawing, and wood carving, showcasing his remarkable skill and unwavering dedication. Jim's intricately crafted custom canes were a testament to his artistry and craftsmanship, leaving an indelible mark on all who beheld them.

  Jim's enduring love for his family formed the core of his existence, providing him with a source of warmth and strength. He deeply cherished his wife, Mickey Sue Bull, whose passing, less than a week before his own, serves as a poignant reminder of their profound bond and unwavering commitment to each other. 

  Jimmie is survived by his children, Kim Sasser, Jerry Bull, Jeffery Dean Bull (Rebecca), Jimmie Ray Bull, Jr. (Kathryn), Jon Bradley Bull (Danielle), Lisa Smith (Jack), and Charyn Guess; as well as his brother, Larry Bull; sister, Pat Reynolds (Carl); daughter-in-law, Misty Bull; and a multitude of beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

  In addition to his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife, Mickey Sue Bull; his son, Kenneth W. Bull; his daughter, Connie Cansler; and his brother, Bill Bull.

  To honor the life of Jimmie Ray Bull, Sr., a visitation will be held on May 22, 2024, at 913 N Elm St, Weatherford, Texas, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

  A funeral service celebrating his life will occur at Friendship Baptist Church on May 23, at 2:00 p.m., at 801 Friendship Road, Weatherford, Texas. Following the service, he and his wife will be laid to rest with full military honors at DFW National Cemetery on May 24, at 9:15 a.m., at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas.

  Pallbearers include Jeffery Dean Bull, Jimmy Ray Bull, Jr., Jon Bradley Bull, Justin Blake Bull, Charles Anthony Bull, and Hudson Ray Bull, who will carry Jimmie to his final resting place.

  Jimmie Ray Bull, Sr.'s legacy is of service, artistry, faith in Christ, and unwavering dedication to his family. His memory will always be cherished by all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved Mickey Sue.
