Jimmie W. Dorff Jr., a devoted patriot, loving family man, and longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, at English Village Nursing Home. He was 87 years old.
Born on December 25, 1937, in Dallas, Texas, to Jimmie W. Dorff Sr. and Ina Mae (Seale) Dorff, Jimmie grew up in Dallas and worked in glass fabrication after high school. Driven by a deep sense of duty and a desire to serve his country, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he built a distinguished career as a Radiology Technician. Known for his dedication to his fellow airmen and his pioneering work in medical technology, Jimmie served at bases across the U.S. and overseas, including assignments in Germany, England, Spain, and Korea, as well as deployments to Thailand and Morocco.
It was during his time in Germany that he met the love of his life, Herta Kazmaier.
The two were married on March 28, 1959, in Sembach, Germany, and their enduring partnership was blessed with two children, William and Jeannette. A man of quiet strength and unwavering loyalty, Jimmie prioritized his family above all else, creating a home filled with love and resilience wherever the military took them.
An expert marksman, Jimmie had a passion for hunting, shooting, and gun smithing. He also had a tender heart for animals, especially dogs and cats, who always found a friend in him. Those who knew him remember his dependability, kindness, and dry wit-a man who led by example and cared deeply for those around him.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie W. Dorff Sr. and Ina Mae Mosley. He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Herta; his son, William Dorff; his daughter, Jeanette Lom; and his cherished grandchildren, Mandy Currier and Steven Lom.
