Jimmie L. Hettinger
Laurelville: Jimmie L. Hettinger, 79, of Laurelville, died on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
He was born on June 20, 1946, in Adelphi to the late Willard and Goldie (Williard) Hettinger. Jim was a 1964 graduate of Laurelville High School. Following graduation, he served in the Army Reserve and went on to work at General Electric in Circleville. He later joined Kenworth Truck Company, where he worked in the shipping and receiving department for 20 years until his retirement.
In retirement, Jim found joy working at the family business, The Apple House, owned and operated by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Sherry Bowers II. He cherished the opportunity to meet people, and was well known for greeting visitors with a warm smile and a good story.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than 45 years, Barbara; mother & father Goldie and Willard Hettinger; mother-in-law and father-in-law Eleanor and Robert Bowers; and his brothers, Vernon Hettinger and Tom Hettinger.
Jim is survived by his children, Jason (Ellen) Hettinger and Jill (Josh) Pippy; his grandchildren, Lance, Mark (Mac), Eleanor (Elle), Charles (Gus) and Gabrielle (Bree); step grandchildren Nate (Ashton) Watson and Drake George; and step great grandson; and his sister, Lou Ann Hettinger; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Wellman Funeral Home in Laurelville, with Pastor Brian Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Green Summit Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., and again one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
