A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Jimmie Lee Johnson was born in Dallas, Texas on February 3rd, 1943, to Edward Johnson Jr. and Sarah Bunton Johnson. Jimmie Lee was raised in Lubbock, TX, where she attended Ella Iles and Dunbar Schools.

Jimmie Lee was simply the best in every way and was a pillar of support for her family and friends. She could always be found walking around town, fiddling with something in the kitchen, playing games, grooving to music, and making sure everyone washed their hands. She had a sharp mind and was an avid reader, a giving spirit, and a loving firm heart that she shared with everyone, but especially her grandkids, nieces, and nephews. She attended 20th and Birch and Parkway Drive Church of Christ.

Jimmie Lee will be deeply missed by her family, friends, those who considered her their second mom, nieces, nephews, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her comedic spirit, laughter, passion for music, and love will remain in our hearts forever.

Jimmie Lee is preceded in death by her father Edward Johnson Jr.; mother Sarah Bunton Johnson; her brothers Elmo Johnson Sr., Jimmy Johnson (her twin brother), Walter B. Johnson Sr.; her sisters Mae Bell Myers, Zelma Moore, Betty Flowers, Barbara Flowers, and Janie Ruth.

Jimmie Lee leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter Rosetta Johnson Evans; brother Edward Johnson III; sister Mary Helen Johnson; her granddaughter Lateedra Williams (Michael); grandson Keedrick Johnson (Amber); great-grandchildren Brianna Tuthill, Keion Johnson, Kelshaun Johnson, Keedra Johnson, Ian Williams, Christian Williams, Kazmyn Johnson Sires, Keedrick Johnson Jr., Areon Johnson, Tarahji Johnson, Keemani Johnson; 8 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and great friends.
